Introduction

Caldwell Aeromodelers is an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) chartered club located in western North Carolina, between the cities of Hickory and Lenoir. Our field features a nylon fabric runway and is suitable for most powered airplanes and helicopters.

Flying from the former Caldwell County landfill at lick mountain in Hudson NC, we welcome all new pilots and prospective members. Our introductory pilot program is sanctioned by the Academy of Model Aeronautics and is designed to offer an easy entry into the radio control airplane hobby. New pilots can fly with an intro pilot for a period of 60 days without needing any AMA or Club membership. After the 60 day period the student pilot can join the AMA and our club to continue flying as a regular member. For further details contact one of our intro pilots.

Monthly meetings are held at the flying field during summer months and at the public library in Lenoir during winter months. Meetings include regular club business as well as show and tell, education, videos, presentations and other activities.

Please browse around our website, and come to the field or one of our meetings to find out more about our club.
